(SNO) – The Vieux Fort police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on George Shine Drive in Vieux Fort town Friday afternoon (June 29, 2018).

Emergency services were notified of the incident shortly after 4 p.m.

Details are sketchy at this time, however our newsroom understands that several persons sustained gunshot wounds.

A senior police official said four people were wounded while a resident said at least two people, including a woman, were injured.

A male child escaped injuries in the crossfire but his father was not so lucky, according to reports.

The medical status of the injured were not immediately available.

Reports are that two males opened fire on residents, an attack which investigators believe is gang-related. Residents say the perpetrators are not from the community.

We will provide more details as they become available.
