Individuals with a passion for writing have been offered an opportunity to gain some exposure with the announcement of a short story writing competition by YO Magazine.
The contest will see the successful writers’ articles featured in a regional magazine.
The competition will be centered on the theme of disaster preparedness.
The first short story published by the YO Magazine, which encourages people to prepare for disasters, will get a free signed copy of the book ‘A Commonsense Approach to Disaster Management’ by Dawn French. This has a value of EC$40.
Additionally, if a story is published in YO Magazine before the end of July it will also be featured in the Disaster Digest – a regional magazine which is published every two years by the Virgin Islands (UK) Department of Disaster Management.
Once the story is published in YO Magazine, the writer would need to go to the National Emergency Management Office in Bisee, show the article and proper identification, and receive the signed copy of the book.
