(PRESS RELEASE) – The holidays are here, and we at the Saint Lucia Medical and Dental Association would like to take this opportunity to wish our fellow citizens a merry Christmas and a bright and prosperous 2020.
A few timely reminders as we prepare to celebrate
Do not have unprotected sex
Eat in moderation
Limit alcohol consumption
Don’t drink and drive
Don’t text and drive
Drive responsibly
Ensure adequate sleep
Avoid stressors such as overspending and road rage
Resolve conflicts amicably
Avoid smoking and illicit drugs
Love, Protect, Respect each other
Do not fail to take medications
Check in on relatives and friends who may be going through difficult times.
We also urge you fellow St. Lucians to avoid the dumping syndrome whereby elderly patients are left at hospitals despite the fact that they are discharged.
We vow to continue to advocate for quality, equitable, affordable care for all and to move actively to engage the general public and all relevant stakeholders in our unending fight against chronic, non-communicable diseases.
We would also like to take this opportunity to extend well wishes to the outgoing Chief Medical Officer Dr. Merlene Fredrick James, as she ends her tenure of December 31, 2019.
Once again, Happy Holidays!!
