(MAIL ONLINE) – The late rapper XXXTentacion has released a posthumous video which sees him attend his own funeral, filmed just weeks before he was shot dead last Monday.
XXXTentacion, real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was shot and killed while shopping for a motorbike in Broward County, Florida on June 18.
The video for ‘Sad!’ sees XXXTentacion being confronted by a figure in a black hood and mask, who tells him ‘our worst enemy is yourself’, and speaks about his ‘battle’.
As he stands over his own casket, the ‘dead’ XXXTentacion jumps out and begins to fight him, and the video concludes with XXXTentacion killing his ‘old self’.
The rapper’s funeral was held in private on Thursday, a day after a public memorial service attended by thousands was held at a Florida arena.
Fans, friends and family lined up for hours to file past the open casket where the rapper was laid out in a denim jacket, with two braids splayed over the side.
Security guards flanked both sides of the open casket, surrounded by black roses and silver leaves, and a row of spotlights lit the stage at the 20,000-seat BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.
Loudspeakers at the six-hour memorial service, which had a strict no mobile phone or camera policy, blasted songs by the rapper.
The service began with an hour-long tribute video and the somber crowd grew rowdy as the rapper’s more popular songs came on, raising their hands in the air and shouting the lyrics. Organizers expected a total of 19,000 mourners throughout the day.
Family members and friends in a roped-off area wore black t shirts that said ‘Bad’ on front and ‘No more pain’ on the back. His mother Cleopatra Bernard was seen hugging a friend for support outside the arena before she went in.
Outside the arena, emotional fans, who had been in line from 7am, in the sweltering 100 degrees F, broke down in tears and hugged each other for support. Others sang along to XXXTentacion songs and shared how they had been moved by his lyrics.
XXXTentacion was shot dead on June 18 as he left a motorsports store in Deerfield Beach. Dedrick Williams, 22, has been charged in the rapper’s murder and the sheriff’s department announced they would like to to speak to Robert Allen, 22.
Allen is already on probation until 2021, for carrying a concealed firearm, drug possession and identity theft, court records reveal.
Following his death, topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart with ‘Sad!’ and his two albums have landed in the Top 10.
The rapper’s family has said from the beginning that they do not believe he was randomly killed.
It has also been claimed that the rapper ‘knew he had enemies’ and had become fearful about leaving the house in the weeks before his death.
