Below is a second anniversary message from Emma Hippolyte, parliamentary representative for Gros Islet.
On November 28, 2011, the Saint Lucia Labour Party won the elections, took over the reins of power, and formed the Government of Saint Lucia. Since then, and in spite of the economic and social situation, the Saint Lucia Labour Party Government has been working hard to restore order in our country.
This has not been easy considering the complete devastation left by Hurricane Tomas, and the world economic crisis gripping the Caribbean region, and, indeed Saint Lucia.
But we are coping in these trying times. Gradually we have been able to restore our infrastructure; we are working tirelessly to put people back to work, and putting new life into the health, education, and social & economic sectors.
To celebrate this very important victory for our nation, the Gros Islet constituency is observing the Saint Lucia Labour Party’s second anniversary celebration with a thanksgiving mass at the church of the Saint Joseph the Worker, Gros Islet, and a health fiesta after both masses.
As parliamentary representative for the Gros Islet constituency, I invite all my constituents to participate in the celebration in the activities which have been organised for the second anniversary.
I thank you.
