(PRESS RELEASE) – The Equality Fund (formerly The MATCH International Women’s Fund) and the Astraea Foundation are pleased to announce our Call for Proposals as part of the Women’s Voice and Leadership-Caribbean (WVL-Caribbean) project, which has been open for the submission of expressions of interest since January 20th, 2020, and will be closing on February 21st, 2020.
The WVL-Caribbean project, which is supported by the Government of Canada, will make approximately 20 multi-year grants (in the form of one-year grants that are renewable up to three years) ranging between CAD $10,000 and CAD $20,000 per year. Women’s rights organizations that are based and/or working in Jamaica, Belize, Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Suriname, and that meet all of the criteria stipulated in our Information Sheet, are encouraged to apply.
The purpose of these multi-year grants is to provide core funding to selected groups and organizations for them to design and implement their own programs and advocacy based on their own women’s rights and gender justice agendas and priorities. With the advice and support of our Caribbean Advisory Group, the project will prioritize groups and organizations working directly and at the intersections of issues including: economic justice, sexual and reproductive health and rights, feminist leadership and movement building, LBTIQ rights, and climate change.
The Equality Fund and the Astraea Foundation strongly believe that these resources for grassroots women’s rights organising will propel locally led organizations to advance human rights in the region. Both the Equality Fund and the Astraea Foundation look forward to receiving applications by February 21st, 2020.
