PRESS RELEASE – CONCACAF has determined that Saturday 21 May 2016 shall be Women’s Football Day and has proposed that each national association undertakes innovative and impactful activities for girls and women to commemorate the day. The celebration is expected to provide unprecedented drive in awareness and promotion for women’s football.
Furthermore, the event will promote the empowerment of girls and women, while highlighting key values such as leadership, equality and inclusion.
In this regards we have decided that we will use two venues at which various activities will be held, namely, Vieux Fort at the La Resourse Football Field and at Corinth Playing Field in Gros Islet.
CONCACAF Women’s Football Day will officially kick-off on Saturday, at 10:00am in St. Lucia. All participants and football fans are encouraged to use the event’s designated hastags:
Through these channels you will have the opportunity to share photos, videos, comments, stories and more. These channels will amplify SLFA’s women’s football movement and raise awareness of the opportunities the sport offers to girls and women both on and off the field.
Hence, we request that you mobilize your media personnel to be part of the activity from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday 21 May 2016 at the two Playing Fields.
