Woman convicted for stealing money

RONELLE BISCOMBE, SNO Court Reporter

Twenty-seven-year-old Jeanie “Jane” Thomas earlier this year pleaded guilty to stealing $12,000 from her aunt’s husband on November 6, 2011.

Thomas appeared in the High Court of Justice Francis Cumberbatch with her mother, who took the responsibility of paying compensation to the victim.

The agreement is that Thomas, through her mother, will pay $1,700 immediately to secure her continued release and make the remainder of the restitution in 10 monthly instalments of $1,000 from May 1, 2013 to April 1, 2014, and a final payment of $300 on March 1, 2014.

Failure to do so will result in Thomas spending two years in prison. Thomas was also placed on a bond to keep the peace for one year or in default spend one year at the Bordelais Correctional Facility.

  1. Open your legs and make children you can't support. No problem, your mother is there to take care of them. Steal from other people. No probs, mom is there to pay for that too. Just maybe our mothers are a little too tolerant of the nonsense we do.

  2. Is she mentally handicap? I don't think so, if she stole $12,000.00 what in the hell did she do with it? Why would her mother take the responsibility of paying it back? May be they both enjoyed it, I cannot see my daughter stealing money knowing the consiquences and I have to pay it back, hell no bitch sit your arse at Bordelais and do your time you're 27 years old for crying out loud. The mother is an enabler and the daughter will continue doing the same shit because she knows mom will bail her out,bad example day ban su ti wez.

  3. At 27 years of age, she should take responsibility for her actions. I understand how the mother may feel, knowing it is her daughter, but her daughter is a grown woman who made a grown up decision and must go to grown up prison (and not a time our).
