A woman from Mabouya Valley allegedly ran her car into a small shop after hearing that her boyfriend was inside the building chatting with a woman today (May 21).
The shopkeeper, Lawrencia Felix told St Lucia News Online that the driver of the vehicle has accused her daughter of having an affair with her boyfriend.
Felix said the incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. while her daughter was at the shop.
She recalled she was outside the premises, and her three children were inside the shop attending to customers.
“I recalled hearing the car approaching with a speed and soon after… it crash inside the shop … luckily my children weren’t hurt,” the woman explained.
The driver was subsequently taken to the hospital. It is unclear whether she sustained any serious injuries.
According to Felix, she lost thousands of dollars in goods from the incident.
“At least two of my fridges get damage and one alone is like $7000…I don’t know what will happen there.”
Asked whether someone has spoken to her regarding compensation, Felix said the police have taken information as to extent of damages caused.
“I will leave it up to the police to do their investigation and see what happens after that … but we can’t sell or do anything now,” she explained. Felix believes that someone could have been seriously injured, but is thankful that everyone is safe.
