The Windward Islands Under-15 team continued their winning ways with a 19-run victory over the Leeward Islands at Albion Sports Complex in Guyana.
The Monday fixture was the latest in the West Indies Cricket Board’s Under-15 competition.
The Windwards batted first in difficult conditions, and were dismissed for just 118 in 47.3 overs. Vice captain Tahj Tavernier top scored with 39, Mika Joseph added 12 and Tijourn Pope 11.
In reply, the Leeward Islands were bowled out for 100 in 40.4 overs. Zawandi White made 36 not out. For the Windwards, three Saint Lucians took two wickets each – Simeon Gerson 2-3 in 1.4 overs, Dhan Raj Chaz Cepal 2-4 in two overs, Rene Montoute 2-23 in 10 overs.
The Windwards next encounter will be on Tuesday, 28 July against Barbados at the National Stadium in Providence.
The unbeaten Windwards, with five Saint Lucians in their ranks, now have two wins and an abandoned game in a tournament that has been badly affected by rain. Teams get six points for a win, bit nothing for an abandoned match. Only Jamaica has been able to play all three of their games so far, losing all three.
