JAMAICA OBSERVER – Discarded Twenty20 captain Darren Sammy has supported the view of two of his former teammates that the sacking of head coach Phil Simmons has negatively impacted West Indies’ performance in the ongoing series against Pakistan.

Speaking here this week, the 32-year-old criticised the West Indies Cricket Board’s decision, noting such actions had now become a trend, and said he could tell the Caribbean side was not in a “happy mood” in the United Arab Emirates.

“It’s disappointing but not surprising,” the two-time T20 World Cup-winning skipper was quoted as saying.

“It’s been a trend of how my former employers operate. It was sad. They will say it did not have an effect on the team but, from the pictures being posted on social media, I could tell my team was not in a happy mood.”

Simmons was sacked even as the squad departed the Caribbean for the UAE last month, over what the WICB described as “differences in culture and strategic approach.”

  1. We can be very destructive as a people. (Saint Lucians). Wow!!! Some of us behaving like Simon Peter when he denied Jesus three times.

  2. Anom...If u have nothing to say just keep quiet..if WICBC is wrong it should be known..the yes Massa attitude should change and quickly...CARIBBEAN SLAVE MASTERS HAVE BEEN GONE LONG!

  3. There is only one way to solve everything is to change the old colonial cricket club from being the West Indies. Cricket Club. to the Caribbean Cricket club. i mean everything is Caribbean because we live in the Caribbean, by way of geographical mapping and identification we are mapped as being in the Caribbean sea.

  4. I agree with you Darren. At the announcement of Simmons sacking Im not surprised though disappointed.

  5. Give some money to Haiti and do something useful and refrain from always ready to slate the WICB. Bitter is an understatement. Where is the money your foundation you set up? Not lining your pocket I hope. smh
