The Miss St.Lucia Most Talented Teen Pageant takes place today, Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at the National Cultural Centre, starting at 5:30 p.m.

The pageant was initially scheduled for Oct. 14, but the inclement weather forced its postponement.

Seven young ladies will battle this evening for the opportunity to represent St. Lucia in December in the Miss Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant in St. Kitts.

The contestants are:

– Kerissa Osman from Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC)

– Leanndy Henry from SALCC

– Emlin Emery from Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School

– Armani Mathurin from Vieux Fort SALCC

– Shartoya Jn. Baptiste from SALCC

– Pauline Francis from SALCC

– Iyvanna David, past student of the Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School

According to the pageant committee’s Facebook page, Miss St. Lucia Most Talented Teen Pageant is an organization which falls under the chain of franchises of the Miss Digicel Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant held annually in Basseterre, St. Kitts.

The regional pageant has been in existence for 33 years now and St. Lucia has been involved for the past 16 years.

The committee said the local pageant “was brought together and led by a committee who agrees to creating avenues for St. Lucian youth, where their talents in the performing arts can be explored, developed and expressed for not onlly personal but St. Lucia’s development”.

It added: “Creating avenues for talented teens in St. Lucia where their talents are manifested and developed with the ultimate goal of St. Lucia’s future development in the arts and culture”.
