An ongoing feud between two entertainment companies over a weekend event has seemingly escalated as one has threatened legal action against the other for a press statement released to the public earlier this week.
In a correspondence from Kurt Elibox, director at New Generation Entertainment (NGE) Incorporated, St Lucia News Online (SNO) was told that NGE is considering suing Stratosphere Muzic for what it said was a news release which contained defamatory statements.
The two companies have been at odds for days following the staging of NGE’s H2O Wet Fete Luau Edition, which was held at Samaan’s Park on June 30, 2013.
According to earlier media releases from both organizations, the tension began when artistes Ricky T and Stratosphere Muzic’s Ambi, Marie-Anne and Mongstar were pulled from performing at Sunday’s event when their management and that of NGE failed to settle on the terms of their performance.
In NGE’s latest correspondence, Elibox said, “New Generation Entertainment Incorporated have received a copy of the press release from Ms Carmy Joseph on behalf of Dutch Productions and Stratosphere Music. The matter has been referred to our attorneys as we are of the opinion that the statements contained therein are defamatory.”
“Kindly advise by return email whether the contents of the press release have been published by your respective media organisations and the form in which it was done, as we intend to take all appropriate legal courses of action,” it further stated.
