The DJ Dongar Mackeson Football Competition continued on Sunday at the Dennery Playing Field. Wisdom 18 Plus won over All Blacks Veterans 1-0 courtesy of an own-goal early in the first half.
After being reduced to 10 men mid-way through the first half All Black Veterans stood firm and resisted an attacking Wisdom 18 Plus without any change to the score line.
Wisdom 18 Plus won the tie by 4-0 on aggregate and a spot in the SemiFinals.
In the second encounter, Piton Travel Young Stars got past a resilient On The Rock Strikers 1-0, a wonderful goal by Junior Cox late in the second half. Following a 1-1 draw in the first leg PITON TRAVEL YOUNG STARS won the tie 2-1 on aggregate and secured the final spot in the SemiFinals.
The competition will continue this coming weekend and will feature the first SemiFinal between Hilltop Ballers and Wisdom 18 Plus from 3pm.
El Ninos beat Small Axe 3-0 to book their place in the semifinal round of the Desruisseaux Youth and Sports Council knockout tournament over the weekend.
Goals from Gerlane Neptune in the 21st minute, Chad Flavius in the 25th minute and Tyson Cox in the 35th minute put the youthful El Ninos team through to the next round.
The last semifinal spot will be decided this Wednesday, when Green Monsters take on Chique United. Both semifinals will be played this coming weekend.
It was football in the mud as two games for the Walter Joseph Trophy were completed over the weekend in La Clery. On Saturday LA All Stars had a hard fought victory over Hustlerz. LA All Stars victory came courtesy a goal from prolific striker Jonathan Gangaly Allen.
Sunday, Dax United and Beta Finkers played to a 1-1 draw. Goal scorers were Ricky Demus Jn Paul for Beta Finkers and Lance Kenson for Dax United.
The competition continues on Tuesday with Radicals taking on L.A All Stars while on Wednesday Bisee will play Hustlerz in a rescheduled match.
