The Saint Lucia Meteorological Service has said that a tropical wave in the vicinity of the Lesser Antilles is expected to cause an increase in cloudiness, showers and thunderstorms over the region during the next 24 hours.
The Service further stated in its 6 p.m. report on Tuesday, August 15, that an area of low pressure is producing disorganised showers and thunderstorms over the central tropical Atlantic.
“Environmental conditions appear somewhat supportive of tropical cyclone formation over the next few days as it moves westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h. This system is expected to be in the vicinity of the Lesser Antilles on Friday.
“Another tropical wave located over the far eastern tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 15 mph or 24 km/h. Showers and thunderstorms associated with this system have become a little better organised and additional development of this system is possible over the next few days.
“The Met Office will continue to monitor the progress of these systems as they move across the tropical Atlantic,” the Met Service further stated.
