We have a dream that Prime Minister Anthony will one day respect the rights of citizens – UWP

Press release: The United Workers Party welcomes Prime Minister Kenny Anthony back to the island following his sojourn in the US to participate in activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington by late Civil Rights Leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

This formed part of the “A Call to Action” campaign which brought focus on the famous “I have a Dream” speech by Dr. King.

The UWP is hopeful that Dr. Anthony’s exposure to this commemoration and the ideals embodied therein may have caused him to reflect on his own recent pronouncements which impinged on the rights of Saint Lucian citizens.

Further we do hope that by Dr. Anthony’s presence on the hallowed ground of last week’s event that he would have been gripped by the spirit of the Great Civil Rights Leader.

We trust that the experience of attending the “Let Freedom Ring” commemoration may have caused Dr. Anthony to reflect on the core values of freedom and civil liberties espoused by Dr. Martin Luther King. Further that that experience may somehow influence his future pronouncements as Prime Minister as relates to the rights of Saint Lucians.

Prime Minister Anthony may also wish to inform the nation whether he saw it necessary during his visit to the US to make contact with the US State Department or arrange to meet with them in the near future to allay their established fears over his political stewardship.

As a nation we all have a dream that Dr. Anthony’s experience in attending the 50th anniversary commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King’s March on Washington and his “I have a Dream” message would bring to his attention the urgency of upholding the sacred value of human and citizens rights at all times.

WE HAVE A DREAM!

  1. It is so disheartening and stupid that you have people who fall for this crap from the united wreckers of the poor, My fellow lucians look at the history of the uwp and the labour, which of them have had the most corrupt ministers from john Compton till Stevenson king, Which ones have took millions from st lucia.
Weren't they in power for 5 years, and could it be that st lucia is still reeling from their bad policies, plus the Taiwanese funds that were to used for the development of st lucia went into their pockets.
Now here it is that the same man who was minister of tourism, who spent St lucia money with no end in sight plus having to be on different committee is finding fault on this government, Shame, Shame Shame and we participate in this stupidity and ignorance by allowing ourselves to get caught up in their divisive politics, Why that's our build up mechanism, Maypris and bypass the knowledge to educate us in making wise decision in the future of our country.
Are we taking the opportunity to explore what we have verses what we didn't have under a united workers party ruled.
An age of information and enlightenment.
Chastenet and other uwpees are desperate for power, will used the global recession to make or say anything, and poor lucians the majority fall for anything and everything.
We should learn from the former prime minister Stevenson king that in this day and age you don't send little chidren to do grown up job, and do we want to countinue to see fair Helen bleed, Hope not

  3. This press release is tasteless!!! UWP is losing it. If you want to knock down Kenny Anthony just do so. Don't redicule Dr. King's speech in that way.

  6. First we don't know if he attended any of the functions or if he went to the USA to cool off. Where are the pictures and the usual press releases for verification. Second we have a dream that he will out soon.
