Wanted: £100,000 a year nanny for family in Barbados

(YAHOO) – As far as childcare jobs go, you’d be hard pressed to beat this one.

A wealthy couple is offering a role as live-in nanny to their four children – but with some fabulous perks thrown in.

Not only is there a salary of £100,000 on offer, plus the chance to live in a luxury villa on Barbados, you’d even have your meals cooked for you by a Michelin-starred chef. Nannies in the UK can typically earn about £500 a week.

Not only that, but the couple – who also have homes in London, Cape Town and Atlanta – say the successful candidate will have use of the fleet of luxury cars they own.

However, for all the money and perks, hopefuls are warned that the role is no picnic. In the job ad posted on childcare.co.uk, the couple say: “I feel it is best to be upfront – the role is demanding. Our children are home-schooled and require constant attention and supervision, even when they are with their teachers.”

The nanny will be expected to contribute to lessons and outside of ‘school’ time for the children, aged two, five, seven and 15.

The advert goes on: “We’d prefer our nanny to eat with the children at every meal, which will be cooked for them by a Michelin star chef, however this isn’t mandatory.

“We have multiple cars including a Porsche, Range Rover and Maserati which are available for the candidate to use – we expect the nanny to run errands and take the children to various daily appointments.”

The nanny should also have a degree in child psychology, no children of their own and a minimum of 15 years of nannying experience. The candidate must be willing to work six days a week, 7am to 8pm.

Oh, and being trained in self-defence is an added tick in the box – although training would be given for an outstanding applicant.

As you might expect from such a wealthy couple, whose identity is being kept secret, the nanny would have to sign a privacy agreement.

And, the job spec adds: “We do not mind what the nanny does with their free time, however binge drinking or drug taking will not be tolerated and will result in instant dismissal.”

The position is a far cry from another role advertised recently on the site in which a family living in a “haunted” house was seeking a new live-in nanny.

  1. They need to take that money and spend time with their own children. 7am to 8pm . I'm pretty sure the children only see them on Sunday's.

  2. Not all that glitters is gold. I would approach with extreme caution. Seems to me there is more flaunting of their wealth than the need to find a suitable person to be a nanny to their children. I personally know of a horror story right here in St Lucia, the woman a successful divorced professional with kids. The children were very ill mannered and disrespectful, even talking back to her in front the nanny. The nanny no exception was subjected to wet towels being left on the floor and told to pick it up or dirty dishes in the sink constantly.
