With Saint Lucia’s Stuart Charles-Fevrier at the helm, Digicel Pro League contenders W Connection Football Club were in top form on Sunday, annihilating North East Stars 7-0 in a lopsided affair at the Larry Gomes Stadium, and in the process eclipsing a 7-1 performance they achieved against Point Fortin Civic on 19 January.
Saint Lucian fullback Kurt Frederick not only played all 90 minutes, but set up two of the seven markers, the first coming after Jomal Williams had fired the Savonetta Boys ahead on 14 minutes. Surinamese international forward Apai made it 2-0 on 18 minutes when he fired in a Frederick cross at the back post.
WCFC produced three more goals before the break, 19-year-old Shannon Gomez with a double and an assist, as he set up veteran Andre Toussaint in the 37th minute, Toussaint taking his goal tally to six goals in all competitions this season, inclusive of a goal in each of the three games against North East Stars.
Jomal Williams wrapped up his double in the 65th minute, with Frederick to thank for what was described as “another brilliant cross” to provide Williams with his 10th league goal and 15th in all competitions this season, heading into the net for a 6-0 score.
19-year-old substitute Aikim Andrews closed off the 7-0 dominance.
After six matches in Round Two, Charles-Fevrier’s side have stacked up on confidence ahead of the two-week Carnival break with their biggest win margin of the season, improving their hold on third place on the Digicel Pro League with 29 points, three shy of leaders Defence Force (32 points) and one behind defending champions Central FC.
