The Forestiere Methodist Combined School is set for football action, thanks to the generosity of the Vempers Sports Athletic Dramatic Club (VSADC).
Officials from the VSADC Youth Academy visited the school on Friday, and presented principal Alphia Ernest with a full set of uniforms, which will be used for the upcoming primary schools tournament.
Ms Ernest expressed her appreciation to the VSADC Youth Academy officials and indicated that the school would put the uniforms to good use.
The VSADC representatives, for their part, reminded the students of the importance of balancing academics and sports, and maintaining discipline along with the principles of fair play.
This donation was the third in the 2015 season for the club’s youth academy, which has adopted the theme “Beyond Football.”
Previously the club donated food and household cleaning items to the Holy Family Children’s Home at Ciceron and provided balls to the Anse La Raye grassroots football programme.
The VSADC Youth Academy has also donated uniforms and equipment to grassroots programmes around the island, schools, clubs, underprivileged organizations, as well as national and representative district teams.
This latest donation was made possible in part through the kind support of the Tallim family of Ottawa and the Ottawa United Soccer Club of Canada, as well as the Ministry of Youth Development and Sport, who have helped clear the gear and equipment.
