For the first time in its history, Saint Lucia will stage the inaugural St Lucia Triathlon, attracting a host of VIPs.

As well as event ambassador and Double Gold Olympic champion Daley Thompson, event organizers Human Race are pleased to welcome Governor General Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, who will present awards to winners at the prize giving ceremony on November 23.

The event also has the honour of the Minister for Tourism Lorne Theophilus being present and also seeing Louis Lewis (Director of Tourism for the island) taking part in the triathlon. This stellar line up is complimented by the presence of IOC member and St Lucian, Richard Peterkin.

Said event director John Lunt: “We are delighted to welcome so many fantastic VIPs to the first ever St Lucia Triathlon. I would like to thank them for their support and look forward to seeing lots of locals and tourists taking part in the triathlon on the 23rd.”

Tri St Lucia 2013 will be the culmination of a week-long festival of fun activities hosted at Rodney Bay in the north west of the Island. Events include an ocean swim, an Aquathlon (swim and run) and a beach run. Designed with all ages and fitness levels in mind, these activities will provide holidaymakers and locals, with a taste of the overall triathlon event, offering families, couples and single people the opportunity to take part.

  1. hope it is a success, its just a bit of fun, trying to raise the islands profile, and god we all need some relaxing moments.

  2. Why do we look for the negative in everything? Can't we all just focus on something positive/fun. For once? All comments don't have to be about negative stuff. Negativity gets us nowhere. We always look for fault in everything. Its sad. We know there is room for improvement, but as a nation we need to cut this habit of always finding fault in EVERYTHING. Be happy about something, anything.

  3. Even in our news reporting we tend to get things mixed up "Welcome Governor General Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy" and "the Honour of the Minister of Tourism Lorne Theophilus." Shouldn't it be the other way around "the Honour of Her Excellency" and "Welcome Minister of Tourism." The Governor General is the Head of State and represents Her Majesty.

Please don't give Politicians more Honour than they deserve!!
