Vincentian national shot in Richfond

A St. Vincent national was shot and injured in La Pearle, Dennery in the wee hours of this morning.

Reports are that 34-year-old Cadet Joseph was sleeping in an open wooden hut when the gunman entered and fired a shot in his direction at about 1 a.m.

Joseph sustained a wound to his left thigh and was admitted at Victoria Hospital in stable condition.

Police sources say the suspect is also from St. Vincent.

The police are also investigating Joseph’s immigration status.

  1. Investigating the immigration status of a StVincent national why? Whatever happened to free movement of people and labour? The last time I visited Grenada which was in May 2013, the immigration stamp on my passport stated "Indefinite Stay...CARICOM National" meaning I could have remained there as long as I so desired. I highly doubt the situation would be any different between StVincent and StLucia. The police and immigration departments need to get their houses in order and ensure consistency across the board.

The same way there illegals islanders here the same way there are many many lucians staying illegally in other islands. So stop the bull talk chill out on the negativity them islands too small and too close for us not to be fully integrated, i for one say eliminate the borders and barriers. Things getting scruffy here you might have to migrate to survive soon so chill out!!!

  5. To be honest I'm not surprised, the people who made these ignorant comments are brain trapped. Close minded and need to educate themselves. Human beings strive for better and thats why there are illegal immigrant all over the world. Look in the mirror before you call someone illegal immigrant because I'm sure all of you know someone overseas who has sent you cash via Western union or money gram. Ask them if they got papers?

  12. If they are both illegals, deport them immediately and let them be their country's problem. We have enough to deal with here with our own nationals.
