The National Youth Council authorized group said it will undertake this activity based on a mandate it was given in May 2013 to implement programs geared at developing sports.
The event will start at 7 a.m. at the Grace Football Field then move on to Joyeaux, Belle Vue, Morne Cayenne, Zabo, Pierrot, Aupicon, Beausejour, La Retraite and then back to the Grace Football Field (ending point).
“We are inviting male and female teams from each community of Vieux-Fort North to participate in what promises to be a fiercely contested sporting event. To participate in this activity teams will be required to pay a registration fee of $50.00 no later than Friday August 23rd2013. Registration fees can be paid to any executive member of the council,” the sports council said in a release.
Police escort, ambulance service and water will be provided to athletes during the race, according to the release.
“The top three male and female teams will be rewarded with attractive prizes. The Belle Vue male and female teams are the winners of the most recent road relay held in the constituency in 2011,” the release said.
“Given that the aim of this event…we are also inviting the people of Vieux-Fort North to line the route of the road relay in support of the athletes as they run through the communities. Let us make this activity a resounding success by encouraging our friends and family members to form and register their teams,” the group urged.
