Vieux Fort North Council honours workers and community members

(PRESS RELEASE VIA SNO) – Community members and staff of the Vieux Fort North Constituency Council’s morale has now been uplifted after a number of diligent Community members and hardworking council staff were recognized and awarded on Saturday May 19th 2017 at the Belle-Vue Human Resource Development Centre.

Officials of the Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, Empowerment, Youth Development, Sports Culture and Local Government took this opportunity to commend council workers for their contribution to national development over the past year.

While addressing the gathering Minister for Culture and Local Government Senator the Honourable Fortuna Belrose Commended the Vieux Fort North Constituency Council for a job well done.

“First of all I want to commend the council for sticking to the plan. You came two years ago you have been able to accomplish your goals that you have outlined and I think this is commendable. It is important for us to recognize that we work with people and we must show that appreciation, recognition and build on those relationships that we have established. We want to say congratulations to you for having this event a second time and acknowledging those who continue to contribute to the Development of life in this community. ”

The Chairperson for the Vieux Fort North Constituency Council Mr. Paul Sammy said that the decision to award community heroes was in keeping with Saint Lucia’s 39th Independence theme, “I am Saint Lucia”. “As we continue to celebrate our 39th Independence as an independent nation under the theme ‘I am Saint Lucia’, we want to express our gratitude to these unsound heroes. For the second time we will recognize them in the areas of Health Care, Education, Culture and Community Development.”

For community members, special Awards went to Mr. Nicholas Garnes for Community Development, Mr. Patrick Gilson Simeon for Cultural Development, Mrs. Jastina Brathwaite for Health Care and Mrs. Roseline Joseph for Education.

All Employees of council received certificates of appreciation. Special employee awards went to Ms. Rosemarie St. Aimee, Sharleen Leon, Melissa Clovis, Luciana Charlery, Lorene Charlery and Mr. James Samuel for Long Service.

Punctuality award went to Ms. Luciana Charlery. Most Co-operative and respectful award went to Mr. Marwick Dilsuc and Team Player award went to Mr. St. Math Elva.

This initiative by the Vieux Fort North Constituency Council echoes the Ministry’s thrust to strengthen the impact of constituency councils in national development.
