Vieux Fort North Arsenal are Fantasy Football Champs

PRESS RELEASE – The Fantasy Football Championship Third Place Playoff and Finals were held at the Micoud playing field on Sunday, May 18, 2014.

A large appreciative crowd witnessed the matches and supported their teams.

Vieux Fort North Arsenal, Gros Islet Manchester City, Dennery Chelsea and Central Castries Barcelona were the four district teams hosting popular European football club names to play in the third place play off and finals of the SLFA Fantasy Football Championship.

The third place play-off match in the SLFA Fantasy Football Championship kicked off at 4 p.m. promptly with Central Castries Barcelona and Dennery Chelsea playing to a 1 – 1 draw. Dennery Chelsea scored first in the 23rd-minute by Winnel Felix and Central Castries Barcelona equalized the score 1 – 1 in the 42nd-minute by Anthony Christopher.

The penalty shootout was won by Central Castries Barcelona by four goals to two, thanks to the Castries Barcelona young goalkeeper Bencarson Blaize who helped his team with two saves.

Gros Islet Manchester City and Vieux Fort North Arsenal featured in the finals match of the SLFA Fantasy Football Championship. In the first half, Deterville Emmanuel of Vieux Fort North Arsenal scored in the eighth minute.

In the second half of play Gros Islet Manchester City’s midfielder Everton Lambert struck a wonderful free kick to level the match in the 51st-minute. Vieux Fort North Arsenal suffered a dent to their hopes of claiming the championship when Nickel Sealys was sent off.

Gros Islet Manchester City was penalized for an infringement in the box allowing Sheldon Emmanuel to score from the penalty mark at the 69th minute. The match ended 2 – 1 in favour of Vieux Fort North Arsenal, the 2014 SLFA Fantasy Football Champions.

The Vieux Fort North Fantasy Champions Team will be the guest of Heineken, sponsor of the “SLFA Fantasy Football” at the Derek Walcott Square this Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the viewing party for the Champions League Finals hosted by the Windward and Leeward Brewery.
