Vieux-Fort man charged for trying to smuggle cannabis through airport
A Vieux Fort man was arrested at the George F.L Charles Airport in Vigie, Castries on Friday while attempting to smuggle cannabis to Barbados.
According to a police report, 28-year-old Clint Steckel of New Dock Road has been charged for the offenses of possession, possession with intent to supply, and attempting to export a controlled drug.

He was arrested at about 12:10 p.m. on June 7, 2013 when officers attached to the drug unit responded to a report from the airport.

The police release states that Steckel was scheduled to travel on LIAT flight 5866 which was bound to Barbados.

The drugs were initially discovered during a preboarding screening by airport personnel, who noticed packages concealed within the walls of Steckles’ baggage.

The police subsequently took him into custody and conducted a thorough search which produced nine packages of dry cannabis.

He appeared before the First District Court in Castries on Monday, June 10, 2013, the report said.
