Vehicular crash on Gros Islet Highway

No one was seriously injured when two vehicles collided on the Gros Islet Highway this morning (July 21) at about 5:50 a.m.

St Lucia News Online (SNO) understands that a white motor car bearing registration number PG9304 was making a turn into the Marina, when another car bearing registration number PJ7559, attempted to overtake the white car, hitting it on the right side.

The white car was saved from going into a nearby river, by a lamp post.

Traffic officials responded to the accident within minutes and are investigating the matter.

  1. Overtaking is not a right, it is a dangerous privilege. It is the duty of the overtaking vehicle to take all of the precautions, read your Highway Code.

    • How is the individual behind you supposed to know when and or if you intend on turning if you don't turn on your indicator?

  2. All depends on whether the individual who was turning indicated. Rules of the road dicate when turning you must indicate.

  3. It is not always the fault of the driver who overtakes. Sometimes the drivers will accelerate when they realize the driver will pass them, especially the bus drivers!

  4. I would slap the driver overtaking. That idiot could have killed someone. Just wait for the car to turn, you impatient punk.

    • Maybe the car which was turning didn't signal, so the car overtaking didn't know. I wasn't there, but I'm just saying. I don't know the parties involved, but I've seen it plenty of times, where someone who is turning doesn't indicate.

  5. Lol. Been observing, quite a # of PJ vehicles in accidents this year 2014. Wonder if they are new drivers on the road.
