PRESS RELEASE – The United Workers Party (UWP) joins with the rest of Saint Lucia in mourning the loss of a Saint Lucian icon. Hunter J Francois made an ineffaceable mark on the social and political landscape of Saint Lucia.

His contribution to education has been fittingly recognized by the naming of the Library at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College in his honour.

His insightfulness and forthrightness married with his linguistic dexterity won him the admiration and awe of many, and near equally, the scorn of those who could not match his sharp intellect and wit.

Hunter J Francois was multi-talented and sought to create avenues for the expression of talent epitomized by his intimate involvement in establishing the Saint Lucia School of Music, for example.

He will be remembered as a rare gem among distinguished men and women to have punctuated our rich history and to have graced this beautiful island of ours.

The United Workers Party extends sincerest condolences to his loved ones and friends.
