UWP National Council to endorse candidates today

The United Workers Party (UWP) will hold its National Council meeting today to endorse candidates for the next general elections.

The party is expected to endorse a few of its sitting Members of Parliament, new candidates and caretakers.

Only three delegates are allowed to participate in the voting process, but various supporters will be present.

The meeting will be held at the Valmont building, behind Super J at Rodney Heights, Gros Islet, and starts at 2 p.m.

The party has had three candidate selections: Dominic Fedee (April 9, 2015 – Anse La Raye/Canaries) and Allen Chastanet (May 19, 2015 – Micoud South) and Mary Isaac (May 21, 2015 – Castries South).

  5. All i see is a bunch of old people, cheh flambeau following a failure. Any half competent tech savy person will know how to use google to uncover Allen's long and colorful track record for failure.
The man is a horrible choice for a prime minister.
Kenny, no. This man has had enough. He did a fantastic job helping the economy evolve from agricultural to tourism based after the loss of prefferntial treatment at the Lome convention. And i commend his leadership during this period.
But it is clear he does not know how to handle the current economic recession. Or his team of economists are probably stubborn New-Keynesians who couldnt see a small fiscal multiplier if it bit them in the ***.
Either way the policies he employed were rash and ineffective not to mention grossly procyclical.
so Kenny is no help and Allen...well..Allen is Allen no knowledgeable investor will let him near their money, why should we. What do we do??
We need to demand a change in legislation which offers more flexibility in deciding who leads the country. Why should SLP and UWP offer 1 candidate each and we are forced to pick between two evils? Have each party be allowed a maximum of three candidates who will engage the public in debate on pertinent topics. The chosen prime minister will then pick his ministerial team, who dont HAVE to be parlimentary reps.

Im Tired of seeing people pick a blatantly inferior party because they dont like the head offered up. LET THE PEOPLE CHOOSE!. what we have now is merely the illusion of choice. I am not fooled.

  6. La Chasse is either suffering from amnesia or alzheimer or is a pathological liar. If he is sick then I excuse for being medically unfit for office. The un-excusable is when the liar lies when there is no reason to lie.

  7. Due to the way SLP have been conducting themselves, with dishonesty Re: the Human trafficking fiasco, the VAT, excessive cost of Questionable Lawyers, the Speakers credibility, the Sea bed signing, and lying about it, the President of the Senate who SHOULD be neutral but on a daily basis, involves himself in open debate publicly an very bias toward his employers, the Labour Party. I could go on but these and many others will surely take this Government down, next time around.
