PRESS RELEASE – Our rally in Grande Riviere – Gros Islet on Sunday 24th April, 2016, was a mix of reunion, reintroduction and recapping.
Gros Islet candidate Lenard “Spider” Montoute, in a stirring address, reminded the audience of his work within the constituency. He reminded the people that not only does he have the capacity to change hearts and minds, but he acts and changes outcomes. It was clear from his plans for Gros Islet that he is a man of vision.
Mr. Montoute is an ardent advocate of youth empowerment. He realizes the importance of nourishing the roots of our country; creating a society where the youth and St. Lucians can all thrive.
Mr. Montoute plans to continue transforming Gros Islet through responsible leadership, sustained physical development and youth empowerment.
In his address he highlighted his carefully crafted strategies for infrastructural development.
Such developments will include: the waterfront in Gros Islet, Dauphin Heritage Site, multi –purpose human resource centres, schools, roads, ICT centres and public housing.
Mr. Montoute’s ultimate ambition is to create a greater linkage between sports and education. He aims to expand sporting and coaching development programmes to enable greater access to tertiary education through sports. In an effort to complement this programme he has plans to continue to invest heavily in the modernization of sporting infrastructure not only in Gros Islet, but across the country.
During his tenure Mr. Montoute improved the momentum of building urban, commercial and culture infrastructure stimulating social and financial benefits in his constituency. He managed the development of a new human resource centre, farmers market, modern police station and the La Borne water project.
The redevelopment of the Gros Islet waterfront included the creation of a boardwalk with restaurants, boutiques and craft gazebos which has supported the expansion of improvement of the Gros Islet Friday night street party. Mr. Montoute also propelled tourism development and upgraded social amenities.
Speaking at the public meeting were many other endorsed candidates and parliamentarians.
Former Prime Minister Stephenson King reaffirmed his dedication to the United Workers Party. He graciously endorsed the Gros Islet candidate; detailing the reasons for his upmost confidence in “Spider’s” ability to deliver to the youth, development, sports and Gros Islet.
Political leader Allen Chastanet in his address encouraged young people to restore faith in their country. He urged those that are frustrated to restore hope and confidence in their minds. Mr. Chastanet is confident that he and the UWP offer a framework to generate economic growth, achieve social justice, and strengthen governance. “I bring you a team of dedicated workers and I bring a progressive vision”… “no excuses just solutions” said Chastanet.
Mr. Montoute has demonstrated his passion for the improvement of people’s livelihood in his constituency and so the choice is clear. Reelect “Spider” Montoute and the United Workers Party.
