UPDATE: Union accident victim identified

The authorities have identified the man who was injured in a motor vehicle accident in Union on Sunday evening.

He is 37-year-old Lloyd Henry of Garrand, Babonneau, who sustained minor injuries, according to officials.

Reports are Henry was the lone occupant of a vehicle that crashed into a utility pole, breaking it.

The accident occurred at around 8:30 p.m.

An eyewitness told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that he was one of the first persons on the scene.

“I was driving next to him, in opposite directions …. he was going around the turn, to the stretch in Union, coming from the cinema area, driving pass me. I heard a crack under his car and then a bang,” the eyewitness said.

“The bang was him slamming into a rubble wall which caused him to accelerate and slam into another wall then the pole,” he said.

Henry is in stable condition after sustaining bruises to his face, and complaints of pain to his arm and back, according to officials.
