UPDATE: Two people injured in Castries brawl

A man who reportedly confronted a woman in Castries was beaten and seriously injured by a gang of female relatives.

Johnson Thomas of Ciceron, who is accused of starting the fight, was hospitalized with several head injuries. The woman he allegedly attacked, Albanetta James of Ciceron, was also sent to hospital for a wound sustained during the fight.

St. Lucia News Online (SNO) understands that at about 3:45 p.m. today, Saturday, May 4, 2013, Thomas allegedly confronted James on High Street, Castries, near the Family Court, resulting in a fight.

It is understood that during the fight, James’ two daughters and her sister came to her aid and repelled Thomas’ attack. Stones were allegedly thrown at the man during the attack.

Thomas sustained injuries to the head and was transported to Victoria Hospital. He was later brought to Tapion Hospital.

It is possible that Thomas and James will be charged for the brawl. The other women have been released from custody pending further investigations.

It is not clear if James and Thomas had an intimate relationship and what led to the fight.
