Last year we had almost 3,000 people attend the festival, this year we are expecting to almost double that number. We are paying close attention to detail and doing everything possible to make OFF a positive and rewarding experience for everyone.
Our workshops will focus on delivering useful information that filmmakers can use to advance their career. We are increasing our visibility by strategically partnering with sponsors who understand our vision for the future of filmmaking in New York.
We are also an “actor friendly” festival! Last year we hosted an Actor’s Contest that garnered a lot of buzz and provided our winning actor with $500 cash, headshot, acting coach session and a free website. We love actors and we understand how hard they work, often for little or no pay. Therefore, we want to shine a light on them and reward them for their dedication.
This year we are including an Ocktober Film Festival Kid’s Day which is all about exposing children to the world of acting. In addition, we are hosting a Caribbean night to present and promote films created in the Caribbean (St. Lucia). We recognize that films can’t be made without technology, so at OFF we are hosting a “technology corner” meant to introduce you to the some of the most innovative people in New York.
Having a film screened at OFF allows you to build a partnership with a population of consumers that can be difficult to reach. It also facilitates your ability to meet other entertainment professionals who share our vision of providing viable opportunities for filmmakers. Some of our VIPs include local politicians, executives, distributors, business owners, investors, celebrities, etc. Your cast and crew will be in good company at our festival.
This year we will not be granting extensions, please submit via Withoutabox, FilmFreeway or our website before August 22nd.
