UPDATE: Corinth stabbing victims identified, one in custody

One person is in custody assisting police with their investigation into the country’s first homicide of 2013: the fatal stabbing of a man and the injuring of another in Corinth, Gros Islet on Saturday night, Jan. 19.

Police said 25-year-old Danley Leon of Corinth, Gros Islet was stabbed in the upper left chest area during an altercation with a “known individual”.

Bevon Charlemagne, a 22-year-old resident of Grande Riviere, Gros Islet, also received stab wounds during that altercation.

Both individuals were transported to Victoria hospital by ambulance. Leon was pronounced dead on arrival whereas Charlemagne was treated and discharged.

Police said it responded to the incident at about 10:30 p.m.

A post mortem examination on Leon’s body is scheduled for Monday, January 21, 2013.
