One-way traffic to the north of the island (Gros Islet) on the Choc bridge has been open since 6 am today, according to a government engineer.
However persons heading in a southerly direction from Gros Islet still have to make use of the Corinth and Union routes.
The official said the concrete casting, which was placed yesterday, needs time to cure. He anticipates the south-bound lane of the bridge will open either this afternoon or late evening, depending on the weather conditions.
Currently the traffic situation is horrible. Someone just complained of being in traffic in Grand Riviere, Gros Islet for almost two hours.
The Choc bridge was closed yesterday after parts of it collapsed due to the inclement weather on Christmas Eve.
