UPDATE: Body of Norwegian tourist was found floating in water, says police

Police said the Norwegian man who died yesterday was actually discovered floating in the water at the Rodney Bay Marina, Gros Islet.

According to a police press release, 67-year-old Egil Oessdahl was pronounced dead at Victoria Hospital, and a post mortem this week will ascertain the cause of death.

Police responded to the report at 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012.

Police said Oessdahl was one of eight crewmen vacationing on board the yatch named Kilimandjaro, which was docked at the Rodney Bay Marina.

  1. only a medical professional can pronounce someone dead. so where ever you are and that person does the examinaation thats where you are pronounced dead. So him being pronounced dead at the hospital didnt mean he died there it means that he was examned and then pronounced dead but he was dead already. Note nothing in the report said he died at the hospital . it said "he was pronounced dead there"

  4. What is wrong with everyone and reading and education these days. First someone said they never knew attempting suicide was a crime, what other new things would be made and no one who commented after said a thing. That law has been around for a LONG time and people have been arrested cause they didn't succeed. You don't read much about it cause a lot of them do succeed. Same way they never said the man died at the hospital, it said he was pronounced dead. This would clearly lead one believe thy didn't do it at the scene or try to revive him or maybe he had a weak pulse so they took him to the hospital

    • Why don't you give the police a call and tell them that? Can't you read? It clearly states what the police said. If you think that's incorrect, call the station.

      • why the Player-hate Game. Why can't we just all get along and enjoy what the man is doing to enlighten us about what is going on in St. Lucia????

        • First of all the man was PRONOUNCED DEAD AT HOSPITAL. What that means is: he died at the scene, but he must be officially pronounced dead by a qualified medical practitioner. This further means the medical person was at the hospital. If the medical person was present at the scene, the story would have said PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. Understood now?
