Once again, Flora Care for St. Lucia’s Children is proud to announce that it has successfully distributed the 120 school bags filled with school supplies collected through its Back to School project to two schools in St. Lucia.
This year beneficiaries are the Roseau Combined School, located in Jacmel, and the George Charles Secondary School, located in the Cul-de-Sac Valley. A short handover presentation ceremony was arranged at the schools on Friday, October 5, 2012.
Principal at the GCSS, Mr. Wulstan Alfred, said that he was most grateful for the presentation of school bags which he said will be redistributed to needy students on a case-by-case basis.
“We wish to thank Flora Care for remembering us and for sharing these gifts. It will certainly go a long way in helping some of our students who do not have the means to purchase a bag and school supplies.”
He related a touching story of two students who recently lost their home in a fire.
“These two students will definitely be the first to receive a bag each and I know it will surely bring smiles to their faces.”
Principal of the Roseau Combined School, Mrs. Virginia Charles, received the bags on behalf of her school.
“When I learnt of our good fortune of being selected by Flora Care, I was indeed most appreciative. This short ceremony is our way of showing our gratitude, Flora Care will definitely be hearing from us soon.”
She challenged those children receiving the bags to show results stating, “Strangers all the way in New York want to help you improve your life, so now it’s your turn to show how appreciative you are for these gifts by attaining good grades.”
The members of Flora Care for St. Lucia’s Children would like to thank all persons who donated to this worthy cause. A special thank you to Mr. Jerry George and his team, The Youth Blazers, for being our helping hands in St. Lucia.
