POLICE PRESS RELEASE – On Saturday, September 13, 2014, officers attached to the Marine Unit of the Southern Division intercepted a pirogue named “Jah walks on water” about 1 nautical mile off Gros Piton, Soufriere.

The vessel was boarded and searched. At the time, there were two male occupants on board the vessel. During the search, the officers recovered three polythene bags containing what is suspected to be marijuana.

Both men were arrested and subsequently charged for possession of a controlled drug and possession with the intent to supply a controlled drug. They are Dave Francis and Mackay Antoine, both of Baron’s Drive, Soufriere.

The men appeared before the Second District Court in Soufriere on Monday, September 15, 2014. Bail was granted in the sum of $3,000.00 each on the charge of possession and $4,000.00 on the charge of possession with the intent to supply. They are also required to report to the Soufriere Police Station twice weekly and to surrender all travel documents.

They are expected to make another court appearance before the Second District Court in Soufriere on October 22, 2014.

  1. I am not a smoker or a weed lover but my question is why? Why are their pictures up for just being charged for possession of marijuana ,so many other persons who have been charged and their pictures don't make it on here neither are those People who commit worse offenses, why them smh. Just saying because it cannot be done to certain people and the rest are left covered up, nonsense. E.w,if you don't have anything positive to comment please keep your mouth quiet and stop making unnecessary comments.

  2. The Police can venture to Fond St Jacques and burst plantations and as far as Gros Piton to catch these guys but you have gun shots every night at smoke hill and up to now the police have not search one house there. They know who the culprits are. Smfh

  3. no wonder St. Lucia is the way it is. Such irrational justification for something that is clearly wrong. It is a control substance therefore it is ILLEGAL regardless if it was the cure for AIDS. all the people claiming the goodness would die if their children would even dream of smoking it. however they must represent cause they are unambitious and crave for being millionaires in a minute at the very youths they want to run this country. Why not take a visit to wellness center former golden hope hospital to see the true glory and goodness of marijuana . heart breaking to see young men dirty eating from bins because they chose to be influenced and smoked marijuana.

  9. I wonder how many of us ever take the time to ask why? All we do is castigate people because it is alleged that they committed a crime.Sometimes we ourselves profit worse @ the expense of others and the Vieux Neg we call them lies deep within us whilst we camouflage it.Remember,'Hide in the darkness, you must come out to light.'

  10. I swear sometimes it seems like Saint Lucia is out of touch with the global reality and our police just choose to continue behaving like monkeys. I mean come on 758, countries (particularly the mighty USA) are investing in marijuana production/ legalisation for economic and medical benefits and we here destroying our crop. I mean really how backward and foolish is this? Policy makers and law-enforcers need to wake up and stop acting like we living somewhere under the bush.........the world definitely laughing at us.
