UPDATED: Trio fined for drug possession


Three men were fined $20,000 each yesterday, August 5 for possession and the intent to supply 62 pounds of cannabis.

Byron Nicolas, 27, of Soufriere; Ernest George, 40, of Babonneau; and Jabez Fredrick, 23, of Anse La Raye were jointly arrested on March 5 after the drug was found aboard a vessel.

Each of the men were fined $8,000 for the possession charge and given 10 months to pay or spend three months in prison, and $12,000 for the intent to supply charge with 10 months to pay or in default spend six months in prison.

The drugs were intercepted on a boat.  The illegal substance is worth EC$31,000.

  1. Isn't that just the same as taxation. What if we didn't have to use police resources, courthouse, rations, magistrate ect. and we could have just taxed?

    Wouldn't life have been easier on everybody? You fools are just stuck in the old ways while the rest of the world has moved on. Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. The people that classify marijuana as a drug done lift the ban on themselves already and saying how it could perform miracles while you all there busy begging them for aid. busy begging them for reparation money -please eee!!! With what will they pay you? The same weed money. Well don't take it and say that's money laundering. Its f---ked up looking at the world through the eyes of a St. Lucian.

  3. They ain't charge them enough. WDMC. They making that in one week selling drugs. They should have charged them $50,000 each.
