(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) – ARSONISTS destroyed a man’s house in Morvant and threatened to kill him on Sunday.
The victim ran out of his home when he saw the curtains on fire.
The attack happened at around 3 a.m. at Oliver Street.
Police said a group of men confronted the victim over a previous altercation.
The victim tried to fend them off, but ran when he saw fire began to spread in his wooden house.
The assailants fired two shots as he ran, but he escaped unharmed.
Officers of the Morvant CID responded and are searching for the suspects.
And in Gasparillo, police found a container of gasoline and a bag of bullets in the bushes.
Officers said at around 1.30 a.m. Sunday officers of the Gasparillo CID were on mobile patrol along Caratal Road when they saw a man dressed in dark clothing carrying a bag.
Acting on suspicion they called out to the man to stop, but instead he began to run.
The officers chased the man into a dirt track, but he eluded them.
Police found a bag containing 25 rounds of 5.56 ammunition and a container of gasoline which they believed was dropped by the suspect.
