(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) – A Morvant man drove himself to hospital although his hand was almost severed during an altercation with his neighbour on Sunday.

Within minutes of the attack, Kasiya Rodney arrived at the Emergency Department of the Port of Spain General Hospital where he received treatment immediately.

The limb was successfully reattached during surgery, police were told.

Officers of the Morvant CID arrested a suspect near the crime scene.

Around 5.10 pm Rodney was outside his home at Laventille Extension Road, Never Dirty, when he got into a fight with a neighbour.

Police were told that the neighbour allegedly went to a car and returned with a cutlass.

The suspect allegedly dealt Rodney several chops, one of which almost severed the left wrist.

Rodney ran off and got into his car.

He remains warded at hospital.
