Kareem Phillips, of Plymouth, is expected to appear before a Scarborough magistrate for the murder of Abiela Adams.
Adams, a Form Three pupil of Signal Hill Secondary School, was found with her throat slit near a pile of rubble at Solenn Lane, Fidelis Heights North in Courland in February.
Her body was found semi-clothed in football shorts on February 12. She was last seen by her parents three days earlier.
The girl was a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Under 15 Women’s national football team.
She was also an avid cricketer.
