(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) – A BUILDER was crushed by a concrete wall which collapsed during strong winds in Rancho Quemado on Tuesday.
Percival Mark Laing, 72, died at hospital.
Less than two weeks ago another builder died under similar circumstances, in a neighbouring village.
Laing, of St Francis Village, Erin, was working on a house at Grace Bristol Drive, Sheila Lamorrel Gardens, with another man, Dwayne McKnight.
McKnight told police investigators that at around 10.15 a.m. there were gusty winds.
McKnight said that the wall which Laing was working on fell onto him, pinning him beneath the bricks.
Laing was taken to the Siparia District Health Facility, and transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital.
He died at around 1.30 p.m.
An autopsy was expected to be done today at the San Fernando Mortuary.
On February 22, Santa Flora contractor/ Roger Lewis, 44, was found dead under a mounds of concrete rubble on the upper floor of the house he was demolishing at Jacob Settlement.
