PRESS RELEASE –
Given the extent of the outbreak of Ebola affecting Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony has advised the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Vernon Francois, to implement with immediate effect, a prohibition on persons from these countries who wish to travel to Saint Lucia.

All visitors from Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone will be denied entry into Saint Lucia until further notice.

Despite the fact that the President of Nigeria has declared that Nigeria is Ebola free, visitors from Nigeria will be required to present a recent medical certificate which clears him/her of the virus, in addition to a VISA to be allowed entry into Saint Lucia.

The Prime Minister says, the Government of Saint Lucia continues to monitor the outbreak and has allocated resources to prepare for any possible threat. Recent events in Dallas, Texas have prompted a heightened awareness and necessitate strong action to ensure that Saint Lucia is protected.

The Ministry of Health will continue to monitor developments in the United States and Europe, the three severely affected West African countries and will provide updates to the public.

  3. Seriously.. It makes no sense... Have you ever met any citizen from Liberia, or guinea on the island... Ebola is in Texas USA.. 70 percent tourists come from USA.. Ebola is spreading in the US..instead of getting concerned with people from Africa... Ban any flight coming from the US. Well..Not cursing tho..But i know a US citizen would bring Ebola to the US if nothing is done now..

  4. what about someone being cleared in Nigeria but, the time between clearance, getting a ViSA and arrival to a country, he /she can contract the virus but then enters the country due to the medical clearance obtained prior to traveling. mmmmm. How do we approach this instant.

  5. Everyone is talking read Allafrica.com and you all will see that Ebola was not originated in these countries. The so called EBOLA was medically created and injected into those people in those countries. Everywhere they created a makeshift clinic in those countries; the airborne sickness spread. The PM should see to it that no medical group comes to his country to give his citizens vaccines

  6. Bravo PM. One question. Isn't the USA more high risk than Nigeria right now? An aircraft with over 100 passengers exposed to the last ebola case in the USA.

  7. A medical certificate from Nigeria is not good enough. If you are not aware some Africans are very crafty at producing fake documents. So one has to weigh this up.Does Nigeria have any significant impact on our economy? The answer is no,SO BAN THEM TOO.Unless it has a significant impact on the economy then take no risks.
