(PRESS RELEASE VIA SNO) – The Travel Foundation in collaboration with Saint Lucia Department of Tourism is implementing the project “Transforming Tourism Value Chains in Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to accelerate More Resource Efficient, Low Carbon Development” in Saint Lucia.
The project is a four-year initiative which began last year July 2018, working with the accommodation sector to help improve operational efficiencies; and by extension, reduce their greenhouse gas emissions whilst helping Saint Lucia meet its nationally determined contribution targets signed during the 2015 United Nations Climate Change talks which resulted in the historic Paris Agreement.
The Project is pleased to execute is second workshop entitled ‘Advancing towards a more sustainable and competitive tourism sector workshop’ which will be held at the Bay Garden Hotel from June 18- 19 2018.
The two-day workshop will bring together representatives from the accommodation sector as well as other ancillary services including tour operators, the business community, training institutions and key public sector agencies involved in supporting sustainable tourism development.
The Minister with responsibility for Tourism, Hon. Dominic Fedee will be addressing the opening session, along with representatives from the United Nations and the Travel Foundation.
