Top Common Entrance student gets bicycle

19807257_10209660859990529_605195427_oRhea Barrett, the island’s top Common Entrance student this year, has been awarded a BMX bicycle for her outstanding performance.

The bicycle, valued at $1,200, was handed over to Rhea today, compliments Universal Cycle Centre.

Rhea, a student of the Camille Henry Memorial School, scored 98.33 percent in this year’s exams.

She jokingly told the media that she will learn to ride the bicycle this summer and take the pressure off her mother for transportation.

The bicycle initiative has been ongoing for the last 12 years, where the island’s top achiever is awarded a bicycle by the store.

Manager Pius Raveneau said it’s his way of ensuring children are happy and that they strive to achieve.

A 10 to 15 percent discount will be awarded to other students who wrote the 2017 Common Entrance examinations, Raveneau said.

  1. Well for St.Lucians regardless the man is still giving back. I wonder dome of you beating ll you mouth really know who Pius really is. Go and find out. For 12 years he doing it. He's not a politician and has no political aspiration. It's all coming from the heart. All you good for is to bad talk the good that people do. Well done Pius. Well done Reah. Both of you will see good in God eyes.

  2. First of all congrats on you Rhea.

But, that bike is not worth $1200.00 XCD. It looks like a sub $100.00 USD bike at walmart. Even if you pay 100% in duties and taxes (on CIF) there is no way this bike will cost so much. Retailers in St Lucia a making extraordinary profits and using kids hard work to sell there overpriced items.

    • Very true .. some shops tend to think st lucians don't know about stuff n we're still in the late 1800's
