Rhea Barrett, the island’s top Common Entrance student this year, has been awarded a BMX bicycle for her outstanding performance.
The bicycle, valued at $1,200, was handed over to Rhea today, compliments Universal Cycle Centre.
Rhea, a student of the Camille Henry Memorial School, scored 98.33 percent in this year’s exams.
She jokingly told the media that she will learn to ride the bicycle this summer and take the pressure off her mother for transportation.
The bicycle initiative has been ongoing for the last 12 years, where the island’s top achiever is awarded a bicycle by the store.
Manager Pius Raveneau said it’s his way of ensuring children are happy and that they strive to achieve.
A 10 to 15 percent discount will be awarded to other students who wrote the 2017 Common Entrance examinations, Raveneau said.
