Terios overturns in Cedars

A young man was hospitalised yesterday afternoon after a Daihtsu Terios (PA5379) overturned in Cedars, Castries at around 4:30 p.m.

The injured man has been identified as 20-year-old Romario Jn Baptiste of Lastic Hill, Castries.

It is alleged that the vehicle was being returned to its owner when the accident occurred. However, a source said the driver was not the person who rented the vehicle.

“He dropped the person who rented the jeep at the airport and he was taking it to the owner,” the source alleged.

An eyewitness told St. Lucia News Online that the owner of the vehicle appeared upset that someone else other than the person who rented the vehicle was driving.

It is not yet clear how many people were on board the Terios when it overturned and if the driver was the injured person.

Police are investigating.

  2. @ chpz in truth you doubt own a vehicle. I would have been mad as hell for my piece of material which probably generates an income to pay my rent and send my kids to school. Everything in this world is money. So don't be quick to judge.

  3. u cal all comment as much as u want,it as all about the hustle in these hard times. The owner for sure knows that insurance will not compensate because it is registered as private. He now is at a lost, this is dishonest because there was no arrangement made with the driver. He has a right to be upset and concerned about his business. He now has to pay his loan, pay for damages done to the jeep and now his business is at a halt. TELL ME whats wrong with this picture. I would surely be upset !!!!!!

    • Well he should have put measures in place for that. If you are renting vehicles. that is a risk that is always there, so mitigate against that risk and insure the vehicle as a rental. That is all part of the risk of not putting such measures in place.

  6. @ chpz. Who is going to pay for the replacement? Apparently, by renting out the jeep is how he was making a dollar. Now he is not making money and have to worry about replacing it. Him being upset is understandable.

  7. Chpz it can be replaced yes....but what if the vehicle only has third party cover. The person who rented it left, so the owner have to get monies to fix his vehicle himself knowing he didn't rent his vehicle to the person who was driving it. You wouldn't be vex if you were in his position???

  8. The owner have a right to be upset because he do not know if the guy who was driving have a valid driver's license.Besides some of them rent vehicles without rental coverage.Any of the scenario he will stick in that.I hope the vehicle is covered with the proper insurance.
