The Saint Lucia National Cricket Association continued preparation of the men’s national team with a two-day trial match this weekend at Mindoo Phillip Park.
The team is getting set to represent the nation in the upcoming Windward Islands Goodwill Cricket Tournament scheduled to begin 19 August in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The weekend’s teams were captained by Craig Emmanuel and Keddy Lesporis. Emmanuel’s team batting first made 247/9 in 89.3 overs, with Tenacy Hippolyte contributing 76, Kurt Edward an even 50, Tonius Simon 28, Awen Edward 23, Johnson Charles 19 and Alvinus Simon 18.
Bowling for Lesporis’ team, Dalton Polius took 4-11 in 7.3 overs; Loic Prospere, Christian Ange, Darius Monrose and Dornan Edward took a wicket apiece.
In reply, Lesporis’ team ended play on 125/6 in 56 overs. Stephen Naitram made 29 and Mervin Wells 23.
For Emmanuel’s team, the wicket takers were Tonius Simon 2-17 in 11 overs, Dylan John, Alvinus Simon and Kurt Edward a wicket each.
The selection committee of the National Cricket Association is expected to name the final 13 and four reserve players by Tuesday.
