A 19-year-old who was among three teenagers nabbed in a drug operation in La Point Dennery early Tuesday morning, April 16 received a fine of $1,000 plus conditions when he pleaded guilty in court hours later.
Haig Mathurin, who was charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply to another, was also ordered by Magistrate Charon Gardner to report to the National Research and Development Foundation to further his carpentry skills.
The magistrate also put Mathurin on curfew from 7 am to 7 pm for two years, ordered that he move in with his aunt who lives next door to him, and placed him on probation for two years.
Police said they discovered half a pound of cannabis during a drug operation at a house in La Pointe, Dennery at about 5 am.
Three teenagers, including Mathurin, who were in the house at the time of the raid, were arrested and charged for possession of cannabis with intent to supply to another.
The case against the other two teenagers was withdrawn.
