Relatives of a 14-year-old boy who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer are seeking the public’s assistance in raising money to offset his medical expenses to undergo treatment.

Tristan Hyacinth, a student of the Babonneau Secondary School who suffered from kidney cancer a few years back, was recently diagnosed with the deadly disease again, but this time in his lungs.

Relatives said that the teenager’s medical treatment is very expensive and would require more finance than they currently have to put towards his surgery.

His father, Deroy Hyacinth told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) today that Tristan is currently in Martinique and is set to undergo surgery, after which he will be placed on chemotherapy.

The father said he is not sure what is the exact cost for his son’s treatment, but explained that he would need as much assistance as possible to continue.

A group called C’est Niquelle – Cupcake Angels Foundation has come forward to assist the teenager’s family in raising some funds by way of a cupcake sale.

The event is planned for Saturday, November 14, starting at 6:00 p.m. It will take place on High Street, Castries opposite the Castries SDA Church. Persons are being encouraged to give their support.

Persons who would like to make a donation can do so through the Bank of Saint Lucia (Account number # 505382000) or make contact with his father on 1-758-487-4278.
