Team Saint Lucia to compete in second annual Latin America Amateur Championship for golf

90aaf622-8fc8-41cf-96b1-26912a147293Team Saint Lucia left the island for the Dominican Republic on Monday to compete in the second annual Latin America Amateur Championship, which will be held from today, Thursday, at the world-famous Casa De campo Teeth of the Dog golf course.

Cliff Alcide and Ben Gillmor are accompanied by Manager/ Coach Tim Mangal, the president of the Saint Lucia Golf Association. The players had two practice rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday, before starting off for the tournament.

The first objective, according to Mangal, is to make the halfway cut on Friday, and then to move in as close as possible to the finish line. After day two of the four day event, the field will be cut to the top fifty scores and ties.

The event will be carried on ESPN from 3-5pm Thursday and Friday, 1-3pm Saturday, and noon-2pm Sunday. The Latin American Amateur Championship is hosted jointly by the United States Golf Association, the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and the United States Masters tournament Committee.
